Witch Tip: Science and Magic are not mutually exclusive
Green witches can (and should) study biology and ecology to better understand natural systems and their local ecosystems, as well as how to interact with and protect nature
Many witch types can benefit from a study of chemistry: crystal witches can learn about the chemical composition of crystals; kitchen witches can learn about the science of baking and cooking; garden witches can learn about the chemical compositions of soil and plants; etc.
This is also a matter of safety: when you understand the underlying chemistry of what you’re doing, you can better know what is safe to ingest, what is safe to burn, what is safe for your local environment, and so on
Chaos magicians can benefit from a study of physics, in particular quantum theories. Cosmic witches can explore astronomy and astrophysics. A study of optics might improve one’s scrying. These are just ideas, there are infinite possibilities.
All witches and magic users can (and should) take a look at basic principles of psychology and anthropology to understand why they personally think magic works, as well as their social role as a witch. In particular, look into magical thinking and the placebo effect.
If you want to be a casual witch, be a casual witch. If you want to devote your life to it, devote your life to it. Don’t let others decide what is “too much” and “too little”.
