With the holiday season coming up and hours getting increased at work + seasonal jobs opening up, as well as companies screaming at you constantly โ€œBUY, BUY, BUY!โ€, this is the time of year I feel most inclined to spend. We may even feel inclined to buy the most extravagant presents for our loved ones when we know we canโ€™t afford it. Or maybe you just have a chronic reckless spending problem, and you need to stop buying for now and save for the future. This spell will bind you from reckless spending so you wonโ€™t feel caught up in the materialism that is the Christmas season. โœจ

Moon phase;

preferably a new moon, but you can perform this on any night of the waning cycle (Iโ€™m performing mine this upcoming new moon on November 7).

Materials;

1 blue candle for willpower, patience, and focus.

1 piece of green aventurine (or any crystal that represents money for you)

1 receipt from something you bought but didnโ€™t need (I had a few in the bottom of my purse, but if you canโ€™t find any, you could even print out your bank statement, cut out a transaction of something you didnโ€™t need, & wrap it in that)

1 black ribbon

Incantation;

โ€œMy need to recklessly spend money is tightly bound

And I bury those urges deep into the ground.

I want and am able to save money.

I am financially responsible so my future can be comfy.

This is my will, so mote it be.โ€

Directions;

As you say the incantation, wrap the crystal in the receipt and then bind it together with the black ribbon. When finished, circle it around the flame of the candle counter clockwise before blowing it out. Then bury it outside so you will never see it again.

Happy casting! ๐ŸŒ™โœจ

Glamour Shower Disks

So you have seen our lovely bath magic spells but you cannot take a bath. Maybe you donโ€™t have a bath in your current residence, maybe you are physically unable to use bathtubs, maybe youโ€™re just super stretched for time but want to get in some extra magical umph. Recreational Witchcraft is here for you.

Shower disks are traditionally used in the aromatherapy world to relieve congestion and other flu-symptoms while showering via the use of essential oils, but we will be bumping up their magical potential.

Basic recipe:

  • 1 cup baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • Muffin tins and muffin liners

Glamour:

  • essential oil of sweet orange
  • essential oil of rose
  • essential oil of jasmine
  • crushed red rose petals
  • pinch of glitter

Combine baking soda and corn starch (making sure there are no clumps), then slowly add in the water. Fill lined muffin tins about third of the way, then add in dry herbs and spices. Leave out to dry for at least 24 hours. Carefully take disks out of the liners, add your essential oils, and place your disk somewhere in your shower that will allow them to dissolve slowly while you shower. Bam, youโ€™re done.

This recipe is the shower version of this bath spell.

witchcrafttips:

Something Iโ€™ve noticed is that some people who have no knowledge of witchcraft whatsoever have their own small rituals (whether consciously or not) and Iโ€™m so in love with it.

– A young boy I know tells me he wears a necklace to help him run faster, and whenever he looks at it he gets a boost of self-assurance and luck. And I couldnโ€™t help but smile when he told me this – itโ€™s his self-created talisman, whether he knows it or not.

– A woman I met recently told me that writing a letter to someone and then burning it is extremely cathartic. It reminds me of spells performed to release negative emotions.

– My mother has a cup of tea around the same time daily, using her favourite mug and sitting in her favourite chair as a way to reduce stress. A calming self-care ritual.

– Even before I discovered witchcraft, I did things as a child like projecting my anger and negative emotions into a stone and throwing it into a body of water so it would leave me alone. I felt better after that, even without knowing it was basically a spell.

I see it everywhere, all kinds of people doing relatively mundane things to achieve better outcomes for themselves: strength, calmness, healing and more. They have their own, personally-developed rituals and magicks – not necessarily of huge proportion or complexity, but effective nonetheless – and I find it so beautiful.
