Me, an intellectual: There are far too many religious individuals who use their religion as an excuse for their own bigotry, but we also have to recognize when it’s the institution that is the problem and not the religion by itself. We also need to engage in civil discussion with more problematic sections of a religion and understand that no one religious group acts the same.
