💀Hel Devotional Post💀

thewitchofthenorse:

Hel is the Queen of Helheim, Lady of the Dead, sister of Fenrir and

Jörmungand, and daughter of Loki. These are ways I personally honor Hel and my personal associations with offerings. If you have something negative to say keep it to yourself, these are personal and work for me.

  • When the earth is quiet and the grounds are covered in snow take a hike in solitude for her.
  • Volunteer to help those who are recently bereaved.
  • Use bones or the crystals onyx, petrified wood, tourmalated quartz, smokey quartz, obsidian, and jet.
  • Cook meals for the homeless, at the soup kitchen, or someone in need who society won’t help.
  • Decorate your home in photos of passed loved ones, bones, dried herbs/flowers, and wolves/ravens.
  • Leave a drop of your blood in freshly fallen snow as an offering(this also works for Skadi).
  • Use snow water and graveyard dirt in your practice or altar.
  • Listen to music that reminds you of her. I’ve noticed she likes cello and piano pieces quite a lot.
  • Practice crystal ball scrying.
  • Leave offerings of food(that are also safe for animals) out to rot in the wilderness like apples, meat, cabbage, etc.
  • Keep a window open at night(granted it’s safe).
  • Leave offerings or saying devotional prayers under the new/dark moon.
  • Light candles or incense of mulberry, wine, apple, musk, rose, and winter themed scents.
  • Make offerings to your ancestors and honor the good that they’ve done but don’t deny the wrong they’ve done, learn from it.
  • Have a glass of apple cider, apple tea, or spiced teas like chai in honor of her.
  • If you feel anxious, depressed, or insecure give those feelings to her as an offering. Focus on healing after.
  • Use the runes Berkano, Isa, and Hagalaz in your altar or practice.
  • Remember that solitude can teach you many lessons about yourself.
